I advise C‑level clients on strategy and marketing, with a focus on strategies and programs that drive their revenue engine.
My clients create innovative tech-based products and services for people (rather than middleware or infrastructure). They innovate in categories such as digital media, cross-media authoring or dynamic publishing, web-based services, etc. My clients lead “gazelle stage” fast-growing firms, mid-market companies, or innovation units within large enterprises. Some lead lean startups and are just starting to get significant customer traction.
My consulting firm is Informing Arts, based just outside Seattle, Washington. We serve clients in North America and western Europe.
Before launching Informing Arts, I held executive marketing and product management roles at Apple, Aldus (now Adobe), HP and VisiCorp. Friends joke that my T‑shirt and tchotchke collection is a visual record of the PC industry…
Thanks to my experience at Apple and Adobe I have domain expertise in electronic publishing, graphics and content management.
Why This Blog
This blog lets me tell stories or reflect on topics that have captured my attention. I muse about the joys of a yoga practice, travel experiences, or those special moments in life.
Sometimes I share my perspective on what it’s like to use new tools or devices in my consulting practice or personal life. Or what thrills or peeves me as an everyday consumer. Such as my quest for a yoga mat that remains sticky and doesn’t slip throughout a sweaty yoga practice.
I look forward to hearing back from you when these topics intrigue you.
Personal versus Professional
In my professional life, I’m an independent consultant and small business owner in the Seattle area, active in local organizations for entrepreneurs. For several years I’ve coached early stage founders, helping them polish their to pitch to angels, first as a coach for Seraph, a women’s network of Northwest angels, and later as a mentor via 9Mile Labs.
Personal life: happily married (long-term relationship), no children; yoga practitioner, tandem cyclist, kayaker, and fair weather hiker. Prolific reader (some might say “addicted to reading”). Sporadic Facebook poster, as a way to interact with friends and extended family. I share stories from time to time via Medium’s publishing platform.
To our friends’ delight, we have made artisanal-style wine from premium Washington varietals for more than 10 years. And yes, we’re active in local wine tasting groups.
